Here’s a round up of last week’s best and worst looks.

Since we’re always on the prowl for fashion wins (and disasters), here are the celebs who ranked very high (and low!) on our style-o-metre:

Best Dressed

Padma Laxmi

TV personality Padma Lakshmi worked this rocker-chic outfit at the “Alyse Kenny... It’s A Charity Thing” fundraiser at Gotham Comedy Club. The TV personality paired ink blue coloured denim with a crisp tailored suit and graphic T and looked every inch a star at the event. The outfit says ‘I know what looks good on me and I don’t need five hours to decide to wear’ and that totally works for us.

Mira Nair

There’s nothing we love more than a powerful desi woman strutting what her ammi gave her on the red carpet. We saw the poetess of cinema Indian film director Mira Nair posing on the red carpet of her movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist at the 69th Venice Film Festival in this royal blue flared frock with bronze embroidery on it, wrinkled sleeves and chooridar pyjama. The dull khussas add to the glamour of this mughal-inspired outfit and we just can’t help but feel smitten. Purrr.

Kasia Smutniak

Polish actress Kasia Smutniak, patroness of the 69th Venice Film Festival poses in a sleek red long-sleeved Armani Privé gown. Covered from the front, Kasia flashed a hint of skin via a low reverse V-neck, which shows off her sleek bun as well as her small neck tattoo. The Polish actress opted to go clutchless, accessorising with small studs and a large cocktail ring.

Worst Dressed

Trine Dyrholm

Danish actor Trine Dyrholm attended the red carpet of the movie Den scalded frisor (Love is all you need) and that’s all we could notice before we dosed off in front of her picture. The actor looks like a bland, badly done vanilla cake. There’s not even a pop or hint of colour on her and it’s not like we hate white but the colour alone can make anyone look extremely bland especially if you’re Caucasian.

Frieda Pinto

Freida Pinto was seen at a party event in Venice in a sari-inspired black and gold cut-out gown that displayed her toned torso. The Slumdog Millionaire star opted for a daring number this time that had an exquisite cut but sadly the print looked like she was suffering from some skin disease. With her hair swept back in a chic chignon, the Indian starlet was glowing wearing minimal make-up; we just wish she had been more careful with the print of her dress which isn’t doing her beauty any justice.

Bipasha Basu

Bollywood actor Bipasha Basu showed up at the promotion of her upcoming movie Raaz 3 looking like ... this. Now if my mum were present at the event she would have asked me if the actor got attacked by wolves on her way. Bipasha’s shirt looks like she wrestled with a wolf who strategically chewed bits of her shirt and gave it the very ‘exotic’ cut we see in this picture. Maybe if she wasn’t so fond of keeping everything raaz (a secret) she would’ve shared that she is going through some serious wardrobe crisis.
