Don’t be surprised (III)

I think those who criticise Fulton do not like the fact that he refers to Pakistan as his country.

Letter August 27, 2010

KARACHI: Those criticising George Fulton for not being suited to comment on – because he is a foreigner – should realise that he is as much a Pakistani, if not more, than all those who have left this country in their adolescence and now post their solutions and critique about Pakistan from the comfort of their homes, thousands of miles away.

He has interacted with people and visited places unknown to most Pakistanis. He chose to move here, something most Pakistani British people would be unwilling to do. Furthermore, he can move back whenever he feels like it, yet he stays here. I think those who criticise him do not like the fact that he refers to Pakistan as his country. Other writers on this paper's website have expressed similar outrage, which we have accepted because they are born Pakistanis.
