Railways woes: Gas supply to staff colonies stopped
Railways owed Rs.37.1 million in gas bills to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Tuesday stopped gas supply to staff colonies of the Pakistan Railways over nonpayment of bills. An SNGPL spokesman said the supply would be restored after outstanding bills were paid by the railways administration. He said the railways owed Rs.37.1 million in gas bills to the SNGPL. Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways Prem Union Central Deputy Chief Organiser Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry staged a demonstration against the disconnection of gas supply. He threatened to boycott work if supply of gas to staff colonies was not immediately restored.
