Regional Police Officer (RPO) Aftab Ahmad Cheema on Tuesday penalised 11 policemen found guilty of poor performance and negligence. Those penalised included Inspector Khalid Mehmood (former Ahmadpur Sial police station house officer), Sub Inspector Akbar Hayat, Sub Inspector Zahoor Ahmed, former Tarkhani SHO Naveed Ahmad, ASI Shahid Parvaiz, SI Tariq Ahmed, former Sahianwala SHO Sana Ullah, Investigation Officer Qaisar Younus, Mansoorabad SHO Abdul Ghaffar, naib readers in RPO Office Qamar Tauheed and Muhammad Shafiq. Meanwhile, the city police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested five proclaimed offenders, 10 court absconders, 16 drug peddlers and 21 for possession of illicit weapons. The police said they seized 830 grams of hashish, 1.44 kilos of heroin 114 bottles of liquor, 19 pistols (0.3-bore), one rifle, one revolver and 40 cartridges from the possession of the suspects arrested in raids across the city on Tuesday. They said separate FIRs had been lodged.
