Manager of the Pakistan cricket team, Naveed Akram Cheema, said that the management was awaiting the doctor’s feedback on injuries Afridi received during the third and final ODI against Australia.
The availability of the all-rounder depends on the doctor’s feedback on the two stitches he received on his left hand thumb.
“We will take a decision after hearing from doctors,” Cheema told The Express Tribune from Dubai.
The T20 series will start on Wednesday, September 5 and end on September 10.
Meanwhile, another official associated with the team feared that the former captain might miss out on a couple of matches.
“Normally, stitches require three to five days to recover and Afridi might not be available for the first two matches.”

Afridi Bhai Take Retirement from International Cricket or else perform!!!! Same Goes to Umar Akmal, we will not let you stay in Team if you cant perform.
a blessing in disguise really!!!
doom doom Afridi.
@Khan101: you must be a great conspiracy theorist! I only see comments from concerned Pakistan fans who want to see their team win, and Afridi has been letting the team down, OK he is not a batsman but his bowling has been poor too! Learn to accept things you don't like. There are only Pakistanis commenting here, and what have Indians to do with a non-performing player anyway??
Now Pakistan has a real chance to win
This young man is a rare talent and time is on his side. He will get his chance to prove his mettle. Meanwhile, he could do well to focus on the under-19 tournaments.
Afridi is still a great all rounder but only against B grade teams. His performance with the ball has only been great against associate members and B grade teams. He is cut down to size against strong oppositions like the recent matches. In addition, if he is not physically filt then what is the pressing need to bring him in the team? Afridi plus Akmal brothers are a sure recipe for losing.
@maestro: ""I don’t understand why people keep slamming Lala"" Don't you know most of the comments are from our beloved neighborhood.
Afridi please resign bro!
If LaLa is Not Playing, For sure I m not going to watch t20 Series.....
It might be a good idea for him to rest and fine tune his bowling and batting for the WC in sri-lanka. And somebody newer gets the chance against Australia. Hopefully Omer Gul is also practicing his yorkers everyday these days.
I think he should be given some months rest.
must play
i think he has to play, that's an asset for T20
I don't understand why people keep slamming Lala - he has said many times his concentration is on bowling where he has been consistently doing well. And he has also clearly said that my job is to try to hit sixes or out. Thats his role in batting and we all know what mayhem he can cause in that department once he gets going. Give him a break and he is also an excellent fielder.
Afridi is more of a politician now
Shahid Afridi last 6 ODI matches score: 7, 0, 9, 0 , 1, 0. = 17 runs in 6 ODI's.
