Expatriate workers: Kaira sees overseas citizens as assets
Our overseas brethren are playing a vital role in reviving and stabilising the country’s economy: Kaira
OSLO:
Describing overseas Pakistanis as bankable assets, Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that they had assisted Pakistan in every crisis through the inflow of remittances. “Our overseas brethren are playing a vital role in reviving and stabilising the country’s economy,” he told the Overseas Welfare Foundation in Norway. The minister pointed out that when the government took over in 2008, the economy was in shambles. Pakistan needs money, he said, not only to fight the war against terrorism on its frontiers but also to carry out trade. Under such, expatriates have helped a great deal.
