Fighting dengue: Rs1m earmarked for campaign

CDA Director Health Services says streams and tributaries had twice been treated with larvicide.

In a bid to devise a strategy to prevent the spread of dengue, CDA held a meeting on Monday. According to the CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal, who was heading the meeting, the civic agency has set aside around Rs10 million for the anti-dengue campaign. Speaking at occasion, CDA Director Health Services Dr Hassan Urooj spelled out preventive measures taken to control dengue to date. He said streams and tributaries had twice been treated with larvicide and old tyres have been confiscated from 51 shops. Iqbal added that the environment and sanitation directorates have also been directed to take required steps.
