Anti-polio drive: ‘No child shall miss polio vaccine’

Strict action will be taken against staff found negligent says District Coordination Officer Dr Naeem Rauf.

BAHAWALPUR: District Coordination Officer Dr Naeem Rauf on Sunday directed that a 100 per cent immunisation be achieved during the Anti-Polio Drive scheduled to start from September 10. The drive will target the areas of Ahmedpur East, Bahawalpur Saddar and Bahawalpur City. He said strict action will be taken against staff found negligent. He said vaccinators should be properly trained. As many as 187,577 children below five years of age are to be targeted during the campaign. Around 450 teams comprising 963 people have been formed to administer the vaccine drops to children. There are 396 mobile teams, 41 stationed teams and 23 transit teams. District Health Officer (Bahawalpur) Dr Saeed Asghar informed the meetings about arrangements taken to make the drive successful. The WHO and Health Department representatives attended the meeting.
