Police official killed in militant ambush
Police and security forces launched a joint search operation and arrested seven suspects.
TIMERGARA:
A police official was killed and four people were injured when unknown militants attacked a police van near Bazarak Khwar in Lower Dir on Sunday.
The van was returning to the Balambat police lines after a routine patrol when the incident happened, said district police officer, Ijaz Abid.
The deceased police official was identified as Ikram Hussain. The injured included Nizamud Din, Sajjad Ahmad, Muhammad Ali Shah and Samiullah. They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where Samiullah is in critical condition. “He has been shot multiple times,” said a medic at the Timergara hospital. Later, he was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
Police and security forces launched a joint search operation and arrested seven suspects, said Munda police senior house officer, Farman Ali. Most of them were Afghan refugees since the incident occurred near a refugee camp, he said.
Hussain’s body was buried in Talash, his hometown, with a full guard of honour, said Ali.
