Upcoming NA session: Bill on more minority seats to be tabled soon
Gill added that the law ministry had submitted the bill before the cabinet.
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Interfaith Harmony Akram Masih Gill has expressed hope that a bill for the enhancement of minority seats will be tabled in the upcoming National Assembly session on September 3.
Talking to the Voice of America, he said the government had decided to enhance minority seats both in the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies. Hence, the federal cabinet approved the bill unanimously, paving the way for it to be tabled in the National Assembly’s upcoming session.
Gill added that the law ministry had submitted the bill before the cabinet. He also thanked his fellow cabinet members for supporting and unanimously approving the bill. Gill said the insecurity and deprivation felt by the minorities of the country will be addressed by increasing their representation.
