General Allen postpones Pakistan visit
ISPR confirms postponement, says new date of visit will be announced soon.
ISLAMABAD:
General John Allen, Commander Isaf in Afghanistan, postponed his visit to Pakistan on Thursday, confirmed Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) without specifying any reasons.
According to a statement released by ISPR, a new date of General Allen’s visit will be announced later.
General Allen was due to hold talks with Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on the recently evolved border coordination measures.
Ahead of his visit, Allen wrote an article in Washington Post claiming that Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Omar was hiding in Pakistan and sending fighters to Afghanistan for attacks.
Relations between the two countries have improved in the recent months following Pakistan’s decision to lift a seven-month long ban on vital supply routes for Nato forces stationed in Afghanistan.
