Misuse of power: PML-N worker ‘frees two thieves from lockup’

PML-N’s coordinator from NA-83 Pervaiz Iqbal Kamoka and his associates allegedly attacked a police post on Wednesday and freed two proclaimed offenders after beating up the post in-charge and other staff, The Express Tribune has learnt.
Following the incident, a joint police team from the Madina Town and Peoples Colony police stations arrested Pervaiz Iqbal Kamoka’s brother and his three associates. They registered a case against them under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 186 (obstructing a public servant’s duties).
Madina Town police said that a police team at the Mujahid Hospital police post in the jurisdiction of Madina Town police arrested two proclaimed offenders, Azra Bibi and Khalid Kamoka, wanted in a theft case and locked them at the police post.
On receiving the news of the arrest, they said, Pervaiz Kamoka, the Jalvi Market Traders Association president and coordinator of the PML-N in NA-83, went to the police post along with at least 12 men, including his brother Zafar Iqbal Kamoka.
Police said the men attacked the police post and beat up the sub inspector in charge, Dildaar Ahmad, and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Abbas.
They said the accused tore the uniforms of the police officers and abused them and also threatened them of dire consequence for arresting the two proclaimed offenders.
They said the men managed to free Azra Bibi and Khalid Kamoka and took them away.
Madina Town Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Kashif and Peoples Colony SHO Hafiz Irfan were informed of the incident.
They reached the police post along with some Elite Force personnel. By the time they arrived, the assailants and the proclaimed offenders had fled.
A joint team of police personnel from both police stations raided several shops and offices at Jalvi Market and arrested Zafar Iqbal Kamoka and his three accomplices.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operation) Sadiq Dogar said that a case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of the policemen who were beaten. He said police were looking for them and action would be taken in accordance with the law.
Investigation Officer SI Imanullah Khan told The Tribune that those arrested would be presented before a court on Thursday (today). He said the police would seek their physical remand for investigation.
