The resolution was passed amid a commotion that started as the representatives of the opposition started raising their voice.
After Sanaullah read out the text of the resolution, the Punjab Assembly speaker, Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal, asked the attendants how many backed the resolution.
The attendants, in a roaring voice, said yes.
A commission for the creation of new provinces in Punjab was constituted by National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza – though only 12 of the 14 members of the commission have been notified.
Mirza had constituted the commission on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari. Earlier, the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly had approved the resolutions for the establishment of new provinces in Punjab with an overwhelming majority.
Sanaullah’s media talk videobombed by PPP MPA
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Rafat Sultana Dar made several appearances in front of the camera when Sanaullah was speaking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly.
Sanaullah, who was speaking amid chants of “Rana Sanaullah haaye haaye” pointed out at the MPA and said, “Look at the behavior exhibited by the PPP; this is the kind of democracy they want in the country.”
“The entire country is witnessing that PPP does not have anything except for a handful of insolent women, who are sent to the forefront in order to cry hoarse.”
Condemning their behaviour, the law minister said that the PPP was given enough time to speak in the assembly. “If you speak, while you are on your seat, people will not only listen to you but also respect your words.”
He added, “But, if you go to other people’s seats and attack them, then that’s not fair and should be condemned.”

playing with religion, nationalism, ethnicity and languages is a legacy of colonial masters. if we need to resolve issues we should develop spaces where we can initiate dialogue. we should learn to respect opposite opinions.
The objection on commission is just an attempt to seek an escaping route. All the members of commission have been taken from National Assembly; definitely they should be parliamentarians not aliens. The object put forth by PML-N is absurd. Infact it is old habit of PML-N,” Main nae khelna” . It is right time for PML-N to give the due rights people of Southern Punjab deserve. Why is PML-N afraid of Seraiki? A Seraiki Province is not equivocal to “Azad Balochistan”. And Seraiki case is not equivalent to Mohajir (Seraikis are no migrants to Punjab). More than half of Punjab’s land is made up of Seraikis, then why is everyone denying their identity and right and mixing it with other issues of the country? Europe is formed on linguistic bases, all the Indian states were formed on linguistic bases for better management (UP 200 Million, Goa 0.15 million). What PML-N has got in its mind? Now If making of new provinces is good in itself according to all political parties, including PML(N) , then why they are attaching the conditions that other provinces should also be divided in more provinces. Saraiki Province is a genuine demand as that area has been deprived from basic life necessities since PML-N is ruling Punjab. Rather than playing politics PML-N should respond to the genuine demand of people of Saraiki belt.
i didnt expect soo much hatred for punjabis in other provinces of pakistan.. try to understand brothers we r the only one who accepted a kashmiri as a chief minister of Punjab and a balochi ( so called siraiki ) khosa for the governorship of Punjab.. and we accepted Tareens, yousafzais, kakazais, duranis, gardezis, khakwanis, niazis, kasuris and God knows how many m,ore pashtun tribes in our society and soo much hatred for us .. i didnt expect that ... more over soo many balochis r living in Punjab nowadays and i dont have any complains from any pure sindhi becoz most of them r enslaved by balochi invader sardars in sindh... and true sindhis lik palejo solanki samma soomro and oth jat rajput tribes have presence in punjab and living peacefully.. and many pashtuns r living peacefully in punjab ... but why now they r asking to divide punjab... i think its lik back stabbing... i m sad...
@Zzzz: Then there will be a war and you will lose more than half of Punjab to Seraikies.
@Awans: Surely this will happen if Punjabie do not give up their provincialist and anti-Sindh and Anti-KPK and Anti-Baluchistan policies. Remember Bangladesh. Only Punjabies will suffer and confined to 8 districts of Punjab like Slovakia
Good job PML-N, these are the steps that will assure their own defeat in Southern Punjab and Punjab assembly as a whole, President Zardari was right, the next government will be of PPP in Punjab. I guarantee PML-N will not get a single vote from any district below Sahiwal and specially not from former Bahawalpur province. I hope PTI crushes PML-N in northern Punjab too.
@imran: Imran, you seem to me bit reasonable person. Lets Start with your previous argument that Governor is Siraiki.Once Abu al Kalam Azad was made president of Indian National Congress, then you declared him"Congress show boy".So let me assure you here that these all are stooges and we hate them as much as we hate "Takht e Lahore".You want to see who has real power in Punjab then "Zulfiqar Khosa" saga is not that much old.Although he is "Takht e Lahore" stooge yet he was shown his real worth within 1 week by Sharifs. Coming to othe rpoint that there is no demand coming from Sindh.Donot you read papers now adays???Sindhudesh Liberation army is about to start it's activities against injustices by "Takht e Lahore" and Punjabi elite. They have been influenced by armed struggle carried out by BLA that Punjabi establishment only pays heed to those groups which use violence as their means to end.WHile those 2 groups are demanding independence from Pak,we just want our rights with in federation. We want qulaity education for our children,we want end to entry test system in Punja,we want our share in CSS,army, judiciary and media. We want protection of our language. We want industrialization in Siraikistan. We donot want our lands being given to settlers while we are starving. You tell me,is there any thing wrong???? In the end,let me tell you,we the lower middle class are few in numbers but we are grwoing and we know how to fight for our rights. We will not be controlled by these Khosa,Legharis,Qureshis any more who are "takht e lahore" stooges.
People of Punjab will not spare the traitors of Punjab in PPP and PML Q. Raja Riaz will be thrown out to Larkana.
@Qaisrani: if you are fed up then leave punjab and demand your province from sind, punjab is not to be divided on ethnic basis.
@Qaisrani: punjabis go back from sindh and siraikistan.... plsss qasirani i would lik to listen that from a sindhi instead od a balochi who lives in sindh or may be in soo called siraikistan but let me tell inform you that siraikistan doesnt exist but instead multani punjabi is a dialect of punjab and as you talk about siraiki language then it was developed by foreigner ethnic groups that invaded plundered and enslaved local population multan and surrounding areas on the name of intermingling.. but we still accepted that and livedwith you and will live with yo guys peacefully .. dont forget the first account of a ruler of sindh happens to be about RAJA DAHIR who happened to b a rajput ruler and u will find plenty of rajputs in punjab....:)
@SI: Spot on bro.I am Tamil from Pondichery. You must add one more "I" in your id.
@Qaisrani:
You sound more like an Indian to me than one from Southern Punjab.
@Blithe:
Well said!
@Lala Gee: good comments lala geee.. Geo Punjab...Punjabis are not nationalists but ppp is forcing them to be one :)
@Qaisrani: qasirani we punjabis are happy to share our land with our sindhi pashtun kashmiri and balochi brothers but what our brothers are dividing us for their personal gain and hatred towards us.. governer of punjab is a baloch and its cm is a kashmiri ... actually in multan people speak multani punjabi it is a dialect of punjab.. and those who claims to b siraiki are our baloch pakhtun and sindhi brothers who have migrated to punjab for better economic opportunities ages ago but it doesnt mean we will accept the division of our land ... mazaris legaris lasharis magsis are baloch ... gardezis durranis and khakwanis are pashtuns and lando or soo called abassi family of bahawalpur r actually from sindh... come and live peacefully and u have equal opportunities to b head of our institutions and even bcom the governor but plssss dont divide our land.. i was a staunch supporter of ppp and now i m supporting PTI and i hate pmln but i do support pmln in this case and one more think if u wanna create a siraiki province then why not take areas from northern sindh , eastern balochistan , and d.i.k from kpk to make a siraiki province and then make provinces in other provinces too ...
Why can't Punjab have a leadership loyal to Punjab? Why did PML N pass the resolutions to begin with in Pinjab assembly???
PML N better make sure that no division takes place. Punjab will not forgive any traitors...
Why has PML N gone into the shell of Punjabi Nationalism and hate for Pashtuns. Shame isn't it.
What is PTI position on this issue?
PMLN should setup a commission to reorganize Punjab into 4 or five provinces on administrative basis with detailed plans on boundary, finances, bureaucracy, inters-provincial coordination, planning for future development. Then let PPP and allies handle it.
If PML-N had resigned from assemblies as PTI demanded, PPP would have divided Punjab by now.
I think Punjab has already shown a lot of maturity on this issue right from day one. The Zardari-selected members of the commission was too much to ignore for Punjab. It was a much-needed move from PML-N. Well done PML-N on your principle stand.
@Qaisrani: You are of Baluchi extraction and living in Punjab ; yet , there never had been a problem with that .
Punjabis are being killed in Baluchistan. Ethnic warfare is rife in Sindh. NWFP is now called KPK and Hazara-walas feel rightfully discriminated .
Please appreciate the pruralism in Punjab. For God's sake!!!
I am with Rana Sana Ullah.
@Qaisrani:
“Takht e Lahore”only understands lanhuage of violence.Balochistan and banglasdesh are proof."
Why did you and your tribe migrate from Balochistan to Punjab, if Punjab was that bad, instead of migrating to Iran or Afghanistan. After all Balochis also live there, but you know how you would have been treated there. You are an ungrateful narrow minded soul defaming your brave Balochi brethren.
Out of the 12 people nominated by Speaker NA 8 are from Punjab, remaining four are from MQM, ANP, JUIF and a sole PPP non- Punjab member. The PMLN has lost its marbles. How does it propose to pass a constitutional amendment without MQM, ANP and JUI-F?
People of Punjab should stop their narrow minded approach of considering it a division of Punjab but consider on giving minorty ethnicity their due rights.
The volatile conditions of rest of the country do not allow further provinces there but in time it would be the same PPP and ANP who would be forced to concede to demands of Hazara and Karachi province.
"Takht e Lahore"only understands lanhuage of violence.Balochistan and banglasdesh are proof.
Bunch of Sold out members (Unification Block) and Zias Inheritors (ML-N) have no right to decide the fate of millions just to maintain their Thanaydari under the "Takht Lahore" syndrome. I am a born and brought up proud Lahori, but the damage these clowns has inflicted on Lahore is unmatchable!
On the turf of punjab, ppp cannot beat pmln. Its their bread and butter and they've been playing the punjab card for the last 20 years quite successfully.
Division of Punjab on ethnic grounds is unacceptable. Well done PML(N).
many people want to see Balochistan also devided into 8 provinces. it will be great to make Sind into 3 provinces as well.
Since GT road cities only consider themselves Pakistan, nothing can be done. Takht Lahore may have won the battle.
How typical of northern Punjabis to bracket anything against their will as anti-pakistan.
The composition of the commission is totally illegal and unacceptable to the people of Punjab as the majority of commission's members belong to other provinces. There is absolutely no reason to include people from outside Punjab in the commission making decisions regarding the most sensitive matters of Punjab province. The people of Punjab have not given them any mandate to act on their behalf. Further, it is also illegal and immoral to discus the division of Punjab before new elections as no party had included it in their manifestos in the previous elections and the voters didn't give them any such mandate. Moreover, dividing only Punjab province is totally unacceptable and would be like asking for bloodshed.
The Pakistan Moron League headed by a headless leader has no clue what to do to counter the political moves of evil genius AAZ whose only agenda is to hold on to power and the post of President as long as possible even if that require arousing the people's prejudices and creating hostilities among the peacefully living denizens of Punjab. He knows the only thing that can keep him out of jail is the Presidential Immunity and he is willing to do anything to save his skin. On the other hand, PMLN instead of taking a principle stand of making smaller units in each province transparently and uniformly on administrative basis, the headless NS fell into his trap and now trying to undo his stupid blunders with even more stupid counter measures. It is never too late to do the right thing and PMLN should rather be demanding a commission for creating smaller units throughout the country instead of discriminating with Punjab.
I second the resolution and defend the united punjab............. if sindh/balochistan/KPK can't be separated, then why aim at punjab?? Sindhis have no say in Punjab's matters.... get this fact right!
@A J Khan: in a fair opinion more provinces are better for country but must be created under some kind of agreed criteria for all the provences if more provence criteria set for Punjab than other provinces also follow for example Hazara in PK and also Karachi and Hyderabad in Sind. i see no issue in creating a Sariaki province but if you divide punjab to bring Sindh in power this is not acceptable.
What an irony that they want demarcation of the Punjab carried out by a commission who is headed by a senator from the other province. Since it is the Punjab province we are talking about so it must include all the stakeholders and not the spectators. I am not a supporter of PML-N, but they are spot on by pointing the odds.
@RKM, I wonder what on the earth has made you PPP supporter at first place???
Now PPP and allies want to break the Punjab and then what>>>>>>>>> Allies should unite the nation and not to divide the nation on linguisitc basis.
I'm a staunch PML-N supporter, but I condemn the party's attitude towards women.
Its time to join hand both parties PTI and PML-N For betterment of province and for betterment of pakistan
Creation of new provinces was dream of General Zia ul Haq and PPP is following him. it will ruin PPP politics and establishment will be please by using double edge weapon. after 18th amendment, establishment wants weak provinces and at first step they will divide punjab and then with the help of divided punjab they will divide other provinces. if they fail in this effort , even then they will ett success because it will demage PPP in the Punjab. it was a recorded statement of general zia that he wants to divide pakistan in 100 provinces. establishment needs weaker provinces so no one can resist it. instead of decentralization they r in favour of division of all 4 province. from 1947 there is a ruling group who is against provincial autonomy and decentralization . establishment is in favor of centralism yet after 18th amendment First time in history of Pakistan provinces got some autonomy but establishment will not allow them to exercise it so they supported the drama of new provinces. if u see Indian experience u will observe it is only Indian bureaucracy who got benefits by making new provinces. we should support powerful political parties, powerful provinces and decentralization.
I am / was a supporter of PPP, but this kind of behavior since long make me ask myself. Why do I still have a soft corner for them? One day it will be all hatred against against them if they continue like this.
Music to the ears!!!!
PML N has redeemed itself.
Finally some opposition shown to the bogus commission
Why the silence?
Why this kolaveridi?
Is it against the commission or the new provinces?
