Scientific Advances: Govt adviser’s research work lauded

Dr Sheikh has recently been nominated as an adviser to the ministry of IT and telecom.

ISLAMABAD:
Dr Ivan Sutherland, recipient of the highest award in computer sciences, highlighted the research work of Pakistani computer scientist Dr Basit Riaz Sheikh and Cornell University professor Rajir Manohar. Speaking at the 100th  birth anniversary of Alan Turing, the father of computer science, in Princeton University, Dr Sutherland contended that the research shows effective ways of designing computers that use half the energy that traditional computers do. Dr Sheikh has recently been nominated as an adviser to the ministry of IT and telecom.
