KARACHI:
Mehmoodul Hasan, the president of the Karachi Bar Association, has received a letter warning of a suicide attack targeting the legal fraternity.
“Three judges, five prosecutors and two lawyers will be targeted in a suicidal attack on August 28 between 9am and 1pm,” read the letter sent on Monday.
The SHO of the City Courts police station was immediately informed about the threatening letter, which bears the complete address and the name of the sender. The letter was posted at the Society post office.
A similar letter was received three months ago and the police were asked to look into the matter, Karachi Bar Association secretary Khalid Mumtaz told The Express Tribune.
“This time we have asked them [police] to take the threat seriously,” he said. He was hopeful that security around the city courts complex will be increased in view of the threat.
