Targeted attacks: Two political activists killed

Rafiq and Arshad Qureshi, the Baldia Town’s joint sector in-charge, were shot at by men on a motorcycle.

An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, who was injured in a targeted attack on Sunday, has died at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Mohammad Rafiq, 35, was a member of the MQM’s Baldia Town sector.


Rafiq and Arshad Qureshi, the Baldia Town’s joint sector in-charge, were shot at by men on a motorcycle in Rangar Mohalla Sunday evening.


Shortly before this attack, an activist of the Peoples Amn Committee, Shoaib Baloch, was gunned down in Mohajir Camp, said District West SSP Amir Farooqui.

On Saturday, extra contingents of law enforcers were deployed in parts of Baldia Town. A worker of the Sunni Tehreek was gunned down and two others were injured near Chandio Chowk in Baldia Town. Motorcyclists opened fire at the political activists as they were having a conversation, police said.

Hazratullah died on the spot while Sohail and Daniyal were injured.
