The minor has been missing since July 13. Her family alleges she was abducted by some influential people from the Katcha area. For a month and a half, the police did nothing to find her. However, a case was registered as soon as the apex court took up the case on its own.
On Monday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany heard the suo motu case at the Karachi Registry.
The top policemen of Sukkur – the DIG, the SSP and the ASP Investigations – appeared before the bench. Five people nominated in the case were also present.
The police submitted that no evidence was available against the suspects in custody. An investigation report was also given to the court.
The complainant has old enmity and his rivals may have kidnapped the girl, killed her and then dumped the body in the Rice Canal, the police officers claimed.
The judges were annoyed by the “theories “given by the police and asked them to either recover the girl or come up with written explanations.
The next date of the hearing was set for September 3.
