Ymca elections: Governing body members chosen
The elections were held under the supervision of the Sindh High Court Nazir.
KARACHI:
Members of the Young Men’s Christian Association elected 16 people as representatives of their governing body. These elections were held for the first time in 10 years. Khalid Mahmood was elected as the president, Peter Qadir as vice president, Javed Felix as general secretary and Sabir Iqbal as finance secretary.
Former Sindh MPA and Christian leader Michael Javed said that the elections were held in the same hall where selections for the body were made for the first time in 1913. The elections were held under the supervision of the Sindh High Court Nazir.
In May, the Supreme Court called for fresh elections as it restored the YMCA to its original status. Javed said that elections were fair and demanded that the government and court should now take notice of the illegal occupation of the hostel and grounds of the YMCA.
