LAHORE:
Two teenagers drowned in the River Ravi on Sunday.
Rescue workers failed to recover the bodies in a three-long operation. The search will resume in the morning.
Ali Rafique, 15, and Sadaqat Ali, 13, were swimming in the River Ravi near the Old Ravi Bridge when they went missing. Rescue 1122 were called at 3:15pm and search for the bodies till 6:30pm was then stopped for lack of light.
Muhammad Siddique, an uncle of Sadaqat Ali, told The Express Tribune that his nephew, a grade 9 student, had told the family he was going to play cricket.
He said it was a shame that the search was stopped because “it was too dark.” Imran Sadiq, the rescue and safety officer, said the operation will be resumed at around 6:30am on Monday. He said the operation had been stopped after it became too dark.
