Acquitted: Suspected robber absolved of charges

KARACHI:
A man facing charges of robbery and firing at police was acquitted by a court on Friday.
Ubaidullah and his two absconding accomplices, Hafeezullah Pathan and Najeebullah, were accused of looting cash, mobile phones and other valuables from passengers in a bus and opening fire at a police party patrolling the area in December 2010.
The case (866/10) was registered at the Shah Latif Town police station.
The 1st additional district and sessions judge, Iqbal Ahmed Khawaja, acquitted Ubaidullah under Section 265-H(i) of the Criminal Procedure Code as the complainant and the witnesses were not pursuing the case.
The police report along with the statements of the neighbours confirming that the witnesses had shifted from their residence was submitted by ASI Muhammad Qasim Jamot.
