Countering terrorism: Senate body to debate prepaid SIMs
Cellular companies directed to present a record of prepaid and postpaid SIM connections to the meeting.
ISLAMABAD:
A meeting of the Senate standing committee on cabinet secretariat has been convened for August 29 (Wednesday) to discuss whether prepaid SIMS should be blocked or not. The chairperson of the committee will be Kalsoom Parveen, while all stakeholders including the chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the interior secretary, mobile phone companies representatives, intelligence agencies’ authorities, and other concerned authorities have been called to attend the meeting. Parveen has directed the representatives of all cellular companies to present a record of prepaid and postpaid SIM connections to the meeting.
