Narcotics Case: Man gets two-month jail sentence

The accused will spend five more days in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

KARACHI:

A man has been sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of Rs1,000 in a narcotics case.

Judicial Magistrate, Malir, Muhammad Aslam Shaikh, announced the verdict after Zahidullah pleaded guilty on Saturday. The accused will spend five more days in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

Zahidullah was arrested from New Muzaffarabad Colony in July and seized nine rods of hashish from him. An FIR No. 365/12 under Section 6/9-(A) of the Anti-Narcotics Act was lodged against him at the Quaidabad police station.

The court sentenced Zahidullah under Section 243 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court allowed the time spent by the accused in custody during the trial to be deducted from his sentence. He was remanded to jail custody with a conviction warrant to carry out the sentence.

In another case, the same judge granted bail to a suspect accused of keeping an unlicenced weapon.
