Cash rewards: Another Rs10m head money released

Punjab Police is yet to distribute Rs16.7m released earlier.

The Punjab government has released Rs10.1 million in head money to the inspector general of Punjab Police, which is to be distributed among informers who helped arrest 27 hardened criminals, The Express Tribune has learnt.


Among the criminals, six had a Rs100,000 bounty each, 12 a Rs200,000 bounty each, four a Rs400,000 bounty each, four a Rs1 million bounty and one a Rs1.5 million bounty.


The four who had a Rs1m head money are Amir Hamza, Ansar alis Anaru, Ibrar and Shahid Mehmood while the government had announced Rs1.5 million reward for Farooq Ahmed.

The Punjab government had already released Rs20 million this year. Of this, Rs10 million had been provided in April and the remaining in July. The money has not been distributed among the informers.

On August 9, Punjab Police Public Relations Director Nabila Ghazanfar had said that Rs3.4 million out of the Rs20 million had been distributed amongst nine informers in May. “The remaining amount will be distributed amongst police officials in a ceremony after Eid,” the Punjab Police spokesperson had said.
