Promoting commerce: Business Excellence Awards next month
Best performances in the business and industrial sector will be awarded.
PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) will hold its 9th Business Excellence Award distribution ceremony on September 5 for business performance in the 2011 fiscal year.
Awards will be given to best performers in industrial, commercial, retail, exports, banking and income tax sectors, as well as in categories of new venture, new item and new destination. Hundreds of businessmen have submitted the performance of their businesses to compete for the awards. KPCCI vice president, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi told The Express Tribune that the Business Excellence Awards were aimed at creating healthy competition and to encourage business activity in the province.
“When we introduced these awards nine years ago, we only received a few dozen entries, but this year over a 100 entries registered, shows that they have gained popularity,” he explained.
KPCCI secretary, Faqir Muhammad Shakil, said that preparations for the event, taking place in a local five-star hotel, had been finalised.
“The banking sector is included in the awards in the category of ‘highest lending and business facilitation’, as the banking sector is vital in the promotion of industrialisation,” Shakil said.
