VEHARI:
Four people including two women were killed early Tuesday morning by repeated assaults of axes and billhooks (used to cut animal fodder) over a family feud.

Though no case was registered until the filing of this report, the Tangi police station claimed to have arrested two culprits, Zia Saeed and Ishaq Saeed, and recovered the weapons used in the killings.

One of the girls of the family ran away from the house to save her life.

The incident took place in a village, 56-W, in the suburbs of Vehari. Four people, Zia Saeed, Ishaq Saeed, Sardar and Nazeer Ahmed broke into the house of their late uncle, Abdul Rauf, at around 2 am and started hitting their aunt, Tasleem Akhtar, and their cousins – 26-year-old Sajid Rauf, 24-year-old Khalid Rauf and 22-year-old Saadia Rauf – with the weapons. Nadia Rauf, the fourth sibling, escaped the scene and saved her life.

The killers were reportedly annoyed with Tasleem Akhter and her children whom they blamed for the murder of their uncle that took place two years ago.
