Financial hardship: Couple jump into canal, woman dies
Butt told the media that he and his wife had decided to end their lives on their way back from their daughter’s home

A woman died on Friday after she and her husband jumped into the canal to end their lives ‘over financial hardship’.
Kulsoom Bibi, a resident of Warispura, had died by the time Rescue officials managed to fish her out of the canal in Pindi Bhattian. Her husband Arshad Butt was taken to a hospital where he was later described to be out of danger.
Butt, a taxi driver, told the media that he and his wife had decided to end their lives on their way back from their daughter’s home in Pindi Bhattian where they had gone to wish her a happy Eid.
He said their daughter had pointed out their failure to bring a gift for her.
