These views were expressed by the head of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Fazlur Rehman during the inauguration ceremony of a Skill Development Research Centre here on Friday. The event was organised under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“We are not against having trade relations with India, rather they are the ones blocking the water of our rivers and can blackmail us in the name of trade,” he stated. He further commented that Pakistan does have not comprehensive foreign and trade policies.
“We will have to make new policies and act upon them for the sake of the country. Due to the absence of an economic policy, there is inflation and unemployment. No one has paid attention to the backward areas of the country,” he added.
He further said, that power outages are a problem that the government has created on its own and had dams been constructed in the past, there would be not any energy crises in the country.
He criticised National Assembly speaker and MNA Faisal Karim Kundi for limiting himself to tender politics instead of devoting his energies to resolving the problems faced by the people.
Moreover, he said that there is need for a joint strategy to safeguard the country.
