Property dispute: Cop accused of thrashing two women

Police started illegally demolishing the family’s ancestral graves in an area adjacent to the donated land.

MANSEHRA:

Two women were allegedly thrashed by a police officer and his three accomplices in Mahayan village on Thursday.

Saba* and Saadia* told media persons that the head of their family, who is a constable in the Abbottabad police SK, had donated a piece of land in the village on the request of a jirga for construction of a thoroughfare.

They said that on Thursday morning, Sub-Inspector Aqib* along with three others started illegally demolishing the family’s ancestral graves in an area adjacent to the donated land. They said that since there was no male member of the family present, they went to the scene and requested the men to not desecrate the graves.

However, they claimed that the sub-inspector and his accomplices beat them up with clubs, fists and kicks and tore off some of their clothes. They also accused the Mansehra Police of siding with the attackers.

When contacted, DSP Headquarters Ehjaz Khan Goga termed the complaint “baseless” but promised that the accused men will be brought to task if proven guilty.
