Massa vows to improve, help Alonso
Talk of Ferrari driver’s contract still ongoing.
Felipe Massa has vowed to help his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso win the title this year as talks of his contract for 2013 continue, according to ESPNF1.
Massa has endured a difficult season, scoring just 25 points to leader Alonso’s 164 before showing signs of recovery before the season break. He has not scored a podium since the 2010 Korean Grand Prix and said his objective in the second half was to get back among the top three, while also doing his best to help Alonso.
“The important thing for me is to fight for the podium, even if my teammate is ahead of me in the classification,” said Massa. “For me, the priority is always to try and finish in the top three, but if in a race, Fernando is ahead of me, given his position, I will try and help him all the same.”
Asked about his contract, Massa said the discussion was underway. “It’s being discussed, but there’s no hurry to decide.”
