Beyond borders: KGS wins award at Harvard MUN

There were 800 delegates representing 199 countries, including Uganda and Iran.

KARACHI:
The Karachi Grammar School (KGS) won the best delegation award at the Harvard Model United Nations (MUN) conference held in Hyderabad, India from August 16 to August 19. 

There were 800 delegates representing 199 countries, including Uganda and Iran. The KGS team won 10 awards, including outstanding delegate, best delegate and honourable mention, thereby clenching the top position. Other schools from Karachi, including Nixor College, Links School and Lahore Grammar School also participated at the event.


The KGS delegation which included Hira Humayun, Aliya, Navera Suleman, Araib, Irtiza, Salar Sheikh, Manzar Akbar, Natalie Kotwal, Amar Zaidi, Haadia Amjad and Umme Hani were representing Belgium. They are expected to be back in the city on August 23. Details of the conference are up on www.hmunindia.org.

The Lahore Grammar School delegation for HMUN made it back home across the border yesterday and bringing back a few souvenirs. Represented by Mahnoor Faisal Khan, Neha Mukhtar, Ayesha Anjum, Shaheera Saleem, Maaheen Afzaal and Raza Goraya, LGS Defense bagged a Best Delegation Award (School Award) as Norway with three out of its six team members winning as best delegates and one as honourable mention in their independent committees.
