Football: Everton swoop for striker Mirallas
Mirallas agreed to a four-year contract with the Premier League club.
LONDON:
Everton signed Belgium forward Kevin Mirallas from Greek side Olympiakos for an undisclosed fee yesterday. Mirallas agreed to a four-year contract with the Premier League club after passing a medical. The 24-year-old’s transfer was completed too late for him to feature in Everton’s opening Premier League game of the season against Manchester United. But Mirallas will be unveiled to Everton’s fans before the game at Goodison Park. “I am very happy because Everton is a big club and for me it’s a very good opportunity,” said Mirallas. “I’ve known Everton have been following me for a while and after talking with the manager David Moyes I decided coming to Everton was the best opportunity for me.” Mirallas scored 20 goals for Olympiakos last season, having previously played in France for St Etienne and Lille, and has won 28 caps for Belgium, scoring five goals.
