Security plan finalised for Eid prayers

3,752 policemen will perform duties with congregations in Faisalabad.

BAHAWALPUR/ MULTAN/ FAISALABAD/ BHAKKAR:

As many as 3,752 policemen will perform security duties at 1,022 sites in Faisalabad where Eid prayers will be offered, a spokesman for the district police said on Saturday.

Mian Abdul Waheed said security arrangements had been made for 774 congregations at mosques and 246 open-air congregations.

Besides 3,069 constables, 19 gazetted officers, 32 inspectors, 133 sub inspectors, 267 assistant sub inspectors and 232 head constables will be on duty.

The spokesman said 10 teams of the Elite Force would also assist with security duty on Eid.

He said the station house officers (SHOs) and investigation in-charges had been directed to supervise security in their areas.

Multan

In Multan, more than 1,200 policemen and 2,200 volunteers will perform security duties at 330 places Eid congregations.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf vice chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi will offer prayers at the shrine of Bahauddin Zakariya, PTI president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in Makhdoom Rasheed and former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani at the Eidgah in Multan Cantonment.

Bahawalpur

In Bahawalpur, 826 policemen will perform duties at 373 congregations.

As many as seven deputy superintendents of police would supervise security arrangements in their areas. Other officials will include 30 inspectors and 60 Elite Force men.

As many as 264 volunteers will assist the police with security duties.

Bhakkar

Police have finalised a security plan for 339 Eid congregations in the city. Superintendent of Police (SP) Saifullah Khan said on Saturday that 80 of these were put in Category A – the most sensitive in terms of security, 63 in Category B and 196 in Category C.

He said a subordinate officer and four constables and volunteers will be assigned duties at each Category A congregation. A head constable, a constable and a volunteer each will be deployed at each of the congregations in Category B and a constable and a volunteer each at each in Category C.

SP Khan said five deputy superintendents of police, 15 inspectors, 54 sub inspectors, 70 assistant sub inspectors, 99 hawaldars and 700 constables would perform security duties on Eid.

Security will be arranged for  parks and markets with restaurants expected to attract people during Eid holidays.
