Abducted Dr Ghulam Rasool Kakar returns home

He was kidnapped in Quetta two days after another surgeon was released by his kidnappers.

Abducted doctor Ghulam Rasool Kakar, who was kidnapped on August 1, has returned home on Friday, family sources told Express News.

A psychologist from Bolan Medical College Teaching Hospital, Dr Kakar was kidnapped from the Brewery Road area in Quetta, when he was on his way home from work.


He was kidnapped two days after surgeon Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai was released by his kidnappers.

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) had organised protests and doctors boycotted Out Patient Departments in all state and private hospitals across the city against the kidnapping and criticised the government for its failure to rescue Dr Kakar.

Police and other investigative agencies remained silent on the incident of kidnapping, while the media was not briefed about the agencies’ efforts for the safe and early recovery of the doctor.
