Missing Information: Data on damage by drone strikes rejected by PHC

Additional Political Agent produced statistics before court; CJ Khan termed the data incomplete.

PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday refused to accept an incomplete data of the lives lost and collateral damages caused by drone strikes in North Waziristan Agency.

The court was hearing a writ petition filed by FM Sabir Advocate to stop the American intelligence agency CIA’s drone strikes in Pakistani territory.

Thursday’s hearing, which was presided by a division bench comprising PHC Chief Justice (CJ) Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Roohul Amin, was informed that although data of the number of deaths caused by drone attacks had been compiled, the loss of property could not be ascertained due to the sensitive law and order situation in the tribal belt.

Additional Political Agent Zahiruddin Babar produced the statistics before the court. However, CJ Khan termed the data incomplete. He asked Babar to compile a complete data report on human fatalities and loss of property.
