In the wrong place: SI amongst 24 arrested from gambling den
Rs3 million in stakes, mobile phones seized.

Police on Wednesday night arrested 24 people, including an SI, from what it described as a gambling den in Gojra City area.
Gojra City Investigation Incharge Aftab Ahmad Siddique led the raiding party. Police said Athar Butt had been running a gambling den and a brothel under the banner of a car rental at Pensara Road in Gojra.
Those arrested included the car rental owner Athar Butt, SI Irshad Ahmad, Shahid Irfan, Shaukat Ali, Akram Qasab, Iqbal, Khalid Mehmood, Tariq Saleem, Ghulam Mustafa, Nazeer, Yasir, Javaid Butt, Khalid Jameel, Asghar Ali, Waqas Bajwa, Shahid Maseeh, Faheem, Naeem, Imran, Liaqat Maseeh and Aamir Abbas.
Siddiqui said Rs3.081 million in gambling stakes and a number of mobile phones were seized. He said SI Ahmad is posted in Lahore.
He said police have registered a case and started investigations. He said a court had granted a 14-day remand of the suspects.
He said Athar Butt, a resident of Kacha Gojra and a former councillor had been running a gambling den for quite some time. He said the operation had been ordered by the DPO after a number of complaints were received.
