Construction of medical colleges: Rs5.77 billion given to AJK govt
Rs3.17 billion are for the construction of academic block, hostel and a 500-bed teaching hospital

The Executive Committee of National Economic Council of Pakistan on Thursday provided Rs5.77 billion to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government for the construction of two state-run medical colleges Mirpur and Muzaffarabad. Officials of the AJK government told The Express Tribune that of the total funds released, Rs3.17 billion are for the construction of academic block, hostel and a 500-bed teaching hospital of Mohterma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College in Mirpur. Whereas Rs2.6 billion have been released for the construction of academic block and hostel of Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College in Muzaffarabad. Both projects are expected to be completed in three-years.
