MIRPUR:

The commissioner of Mirpur division has allotted a plot measuring 20 kanals to the Jammu and Kashmir (NHC) National Help Centre for construction of a college, said a statement issued by the commissioner’s office.

Mirpur division Commissioner Amjad Pervez Ali Khan gave away the land at a ceremony held here on Thursday in recognition of the social welfare services provided by the help centre, said the statement.

“The services of the centre for the rehabilitation of sick humanity and to alleviate poverty and ignorance from the society are marvellous and it serves as a beacon of light for other social welfare organisations,” the commissioner said. He distributed gifts and food items among 400 poor families on behalf of the centre under its Ramazan and Eid Package.

Further appreciating the role of NHC, the divisional commissioner observed that the services provided by it are comparable to those of any internationally-recognised social welfare organisation.

He called upon philanthropists and social welfare organisation to “lend all of their energies to serve the ailing humanity and to help resolve the issues of poverty confronted by the nation”.

While addressing audience at the ceremony, Jammu and Kashmir National Help Centre Head Mir Khalid Bashir highlighted the organisations broad-based plan for rehabilitation of thousands of the marginalised people by providing them quality education, health and civic facilities.
