Pesco given rickshaws, safety equipment
Move to help company promptly address consumer complaints, ensure safety of linemen.
PESHAWAR:
A delegation of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Wednesday handed over eight ladder-fitted auto rickshaws and safety equipment to the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).
Members of the USAID Pakistan Power Distribution Program, led by Saleem Arif and Ziaur Rahman, met with Pesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brigadier (retd) Tariq Saddozai at Wapda House Peshawar and expressed hope that the donated rickshaws and equipment will help the company promptly address consumer complaints and ensure safety of linemen.
The delegation members proposed methods to the Pesco chief to curb power pilferage, reduce line losses and improve recovery of outstanding dues.
They also discussed issues pertaining to the company’s electricity distribution system and delays in addressing consumer complaints.
Saddozai, the Pesco CEO, said that to improve operations and ensure that consumer complaints are promptly addressed, the company’s offices of City Division and Kohat Road sub-division will be computerised.
An improved meter reading system will be introduced in the two divisions, which will serve as models of the new arrangement.
He said that the new system will be monitored and once it fulfils requirements, it will be implemented in all sub-divisions of Pesco.
“Pesco is striving to improve its facilities,” Saddozai added.
He appreciated USAID for extending help to the company so it can render better services to its customers.
