Pakistan umpire mired in ‘sex scandal’
Pakistan cricket seems to have stumbled upon another controversy but this time the players have been spared.
Allegations of ‘sexual exploitation’ were levelled on Tuesday against Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf by an Indian model, who claimed of having intimate relations with him.
According to reports in the Indian media, the model, Leena Kapoor, lodged a complaint with the local police, accusing Rauf of ‘sexually exploiting’ her for months after making ‘false’ promises of marriage.
Kapoor claimed she met the Pakistan umpire in Sri Lanka a few months ago, after which they spent a few days together.
She claimed Rauf promised to marry her and buy her an apartment.
According to Kapoor, Rauf had disclosed his marital status and the fact that he had children, but added that his religion allowed him to have more than one wife. However, she added, he failed to fulfill his promises.
Kapoor said the umpire stopped responding to her calls and around five days back, he cut her off, denying knowing her at all.
“If he (Rauf) continued to deny relation with me, I’ll take action against him,” the Indian model said without elaborating.
Rauf rejects allegations
While refusing to provide details, Rauf, the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) elite umpire, rejected Kapoor’s allegations.
“All I can say at the moment is that there is no truth in these allegations,” Rauf told The Express Tribune.
“I cannot make such relations at the ripe old age of 56,” he said. “I can only speak in detail following permission by the ICC as I am the body’s contracted official.”
Possibility of legal action
Meanwhile, a close aide of Rauf’s hinted at the possibility of legal action against ‘those’ behind the story.
“Rauf came to know about the story in the morning,” he said, adding that he was upset because he was defamed without any evidence.
He also cited the case of Tillakaratne Dilshan who was accused of being involved in an affair, which later turned out a false story.
“Many unknown models ignite such affairs to gain cheap publicity. According to our information, Kapoor planned all of this to get an entry into the famous reality television show ‘Big Boss’.”

No need to blame Asad Rauf, this might be another conspiracy to destroy cricket in Pakistan, lets the investigation come to a conclusion. We must back up Asad Rauf until the blamed proofed.
@Zamila Warsi @Ahmer Ali Give me a break. Asad Rauf is an umpire per excellence. That's what matters. His personal life is none of our concern. Taking cheap potshots is cheap.

Asad Rauf must be terminated from PCB's official umpires' panel on priority basis as soon as possible and should never be allowed of performing the duties as umpire in any national or international match any where in the Pakistan and in the world because he defamed Pakistan and PCB on world level intentionally,willfully and wittingly.
Ha ha ha. Well 50% of Pakistanis might enjoying this and having a laugh but me. One more reason why I dislike Pakistani men.
@Blithe: Well the country has already tried Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif so many times who were never faithful to their wives as well so dont go hunching on I.Khan alone.
I think this is some BOKI case, like we see in movies that they say do this or else we'll finish your career, because if you see some of the pictures, i personally think they both were standing in front of the mirror (and the mirror had a spy cam built in)

When the Umpire found out the apartment prices in Mumbai he was shocked and dropped his 'friend' like a hot potato. Now he says that the potato was not hot at all.
The allegations on the Pakistan umpire, may be for financial benefit. It is a pass time to many girls involved in fashion / model business to allege some body in this manner to milk crores of dollars-easy money from them.This is an old trick to drag prominent people for monetary benefit.

Is this first drop of rain or there could be more? Married men in late forties and fiftees have this tendency to make such mistakes. If Asad had been an umarried player, it was easy to ignore but not in his case...He is an umpire, a judg. He is in a position to destroy career of any player, therefore integrity of character is very important for a judge. Suppose its proved that she was used by some players to get favourable decisions. If this happens, how many players would come out to sue him for wrongfull dismissals. We, Pakistanis are taking it as joke, but it could turn out be a very serious matter.
C.mon, Raufee, you have been naughty and have been caught out. I would not have believed the story but there is a photo of you with said girl on an unmade bed. Were you discussing the days play in that room ?

There is and wont be any case here. THe model gets publicity and Asad Rauf must now face the consequences of what appears to be a slip up.
There is no case for Kapoor - she's what they call in US a 'gold digger' -- in this case 'gold' being some 'contacts'. "Pathetic" - is all I can say.
