Anyone disturbing Hindus will be dealt with: Maula Bux Chandio

Maula Bux Chandio says issue of migration being blown out of proportion.

KARACHI:

The government is committed to protect the rights of all minorities and the elements disturbing Hindus anywhere in the province will be dealt with severely, said Maula Bux Chandio, the federal political affairs minister, on Tuesday.

He is heading the presidential committee on the Hindu migration issue and met the community representatives during his visit to Sindh to listen to their grievances.

Speaking at the Bilawal House media cell, he said that the government will take action against those blowing the issue of Hindu migration out of proportion,.Chandio was confident that the committee will set a precedent to ensure the rights of Hindus. “We’ll present the issues of minorities before President Asif Ali Zardari. The government can make changes in the constitution if required,” he said.

Besides other recommendations, the government will also look into allocating five per cent share of minorities in jobs, Chandio asserted.

Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, the MNA of the constituency where the migration issue surfaced, claimed that more than 80 per cent Hindus had voted for him in the election. Not a single Hindu family from his district or any other part of the province had migrated to India but the issue was being exaggerated. “We are with you [Hindus] and promise to address your concerns,” added Jakhrani.
