The attorney general (AG) of Pakistan said on Monday that under the Constitution, the prime minister is not answerable to the judiciary, and the courts should treat the premier’s office with respect. Irfan Qadir said the Supreme Court should create an environment wherein confrontation between state institutions is avoided. The attorney general was talking to reporters after holding a meeting with deputy attorney generals and attorneys of the federal government at his office in the Lahore High Court. During the meeting, Qadir discussed cases against the federation pending before the Lahore High Court as well.
