A matter of rights: Suspect absolved of robbery charges

KARACHI: The first additional district and sessions judge, Iqbal Ahmed Khawaja, acquitted a man of robbery charges as the prosecution couldn’t establish a case against him. The complainant, Ramzan, had lodged a case (978/2010) against Ikram Zardari and his two accomplices at Quaidabad police station, but didn’t turn up at the court.  It was stated in the FIR that three men had looted Ramzan while he was supplying milk. One of them was caught by the people as he fell off from the motorcycle while fleeing. “The accused is entitled to get benefit of the doubt not as a matter of grace, but as of right,” the judge ordered.
