Aisam, Rojer progress in Toronto

KARACHI: Aisamul Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer won their second-round match against the unseeded French pair of Jeremy Chardy and Gilles Simon 6-4, 4-6, 13-11 in the Roger’s Cup in Toronto.

This is Aisam’s first tournament with Rojer after Wimbledon as the Dutch player was taking part in the Olympics which Aisam had missed out on. The seventh-seeds got a bye in the first round.

“Our short term aim is the US Open and we hope to improve there,” Aisam told The Express Tribune. “We are going to play the pre-US Open season to improve our game and make sure that we remain in contention for the London Masters.”

They will be playing against fourth-seeds Robert Linstetd and Horia Tecau in the third round today.
