Wild card: Pakistan to play Hockey Champions Trophy in Australia

Total eight teams will be playing the 34th edition of the tournament.

Pakistan’s national hockey team, which finished 7th in the London Olympics, will be playing the 2012 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy, Express News reported on Friday.

The decision allowing Pakistan’s entry in the tournament was taken during a meeting of the executive board of the International Hockey Federation.


The tournament, which is the 34th edition of the Hockey Champions Trophy, will be hosted by the defending champions Australia.

A total of eight teams including Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, India and England will be playing the tournament.

Team’s head coach Akhtar Rasool appreciated the decision granting entry to Pakistan and said that the team will do its best to reach the “victory stadium.”
