Pir Pagara hints breaking away from PPP alliance

PML-F chief says his party wants to work with the PPP but the PPP does not want to work with it.

KARACHI:
Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) leader Pir Pagara has hinted at breaking away from its alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after Eidul Fitr, Express News reported on Thursday.

Speaking to media during an Iftar dinner in Karachi, Pir Pagara said that current situation is against the ruling party.

As an almost knee-jerk reaction, the Prime Minister, who was coincidentally in the city, dropped in for impromptu talks.

Pir Pagara said the PML-F wants to work with the PPP but the PPP does not want to work with it.

Earlier, Pir Pagara had said that President Asif Ali Zardari wishes to continue the alliance but the local leadership of PPP continues to defy his orders.

He had also alleged that general elections will not be held within one year.

“Different theories and perception have come to the fore, but ground realities say the general elections are further away than March,” he had said, adding, “Politics means give and take and my party has always supported others, but the time has now come to gain support and help in the future setup of the government.”
