Team Green is now ranked 7th in the London Olympics hockey, a rank higher than its position in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
South Korea scored the first goal of the match in the starting few minutes however, Pakistan soon levelled it. South Korea was leading with two goals by the end of the first half.
Waqas, Muhammad Imran and Abdul Haseem scored one goal each in today’s match, sealing Pakistan’s fate for the overall ranking.
Pakistan had failed to qualify for the semi-finals after world champions Australia defeated them 7-0 in a do-or-die battle.
The national team had earlier drawn its inaugural match against Spain 1-1, won the second match against Argentina 2-0, lost against Great Britain 4-1 and defeated South Africa 5-4.

I think pakistan are better of concentrating in religion and watch the world progress from distance .
pakistan asian top wat a joke..
I dont agree with with this comment Pakistans efforts will succeed. @Jerry:
@Freelancer: What a Third Class team Pakistan is.
Well played boys. But not as expected. Keeep it up.
Afghanistan won bronze medal in Taekwando. Which is a nice achievement. It will end up above pakistan!!!
Well its an improvement, at this rate it will take us about 24 years to get to the top again. Not bad.
India have Huge resources and population and we shud hav won more medals... I m really sad to see these olympics, I wonder what our 1.5bn population does all the life!!!
@Doosam: I totally agree with you. The problem with our ego is that we think we are always right but the thing is we are wrong on almost everything.
At this rate, Pak will take 24 years to capture the Olympic gold. Wish I am alive to cherish that moment...
Pakistan top Asian side now, it is expected Pakisan current FIH rating of 8th will improve too
@ bb1
were those indian medals in hockey dear ?
You should not be sad. Our Indian team is the worst team in the Olympics, except for few players.
Not only India even likes of St Vincent Island, Grenada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mongolia and many more have won medals. We should be ashamed of ourselves. We keep living in fools paradise of being proud that we participated in Olympics. While we feel proud this way the rest of the world gives their fighting chances to win a medal which they are doing currently. My head lies in low ashamed at my country's performance where countries less in size then Karachi even have opened their medals tally.
I would agree with the coach Khawaja Junaid in that the campaign is not a total failure. Expecting any medal was very unrealistic considering that they finished 12th of 12 in the last World Cup in 2010. So this 7th place finish is an improvement, plus they can claim to be the best Asian team as well.
The problem is that the game is being played by fewer and fewer boys in schools and clubs. Back in the 1990s you could see boys playing hockey in the fields or even streets in the evening, but now the fields have been systematically converted into plazas or mosques. Other than the few cities like Gojra, Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi's Habib Public School there is hardly any place where the game is played in an organized manner.
Well at that rate of improvement we will finish first after 28 years. Long Live Pakistan :)
Not bad for somebody who lost to Belgium in a warm-up game. They have performed better than expected. Rio gold is not to far from men in green n white .
@Mr Sunny Loni: Pointless comparison. India has already received 4 medals in the Olympics. How many did Pakistan receive?
its white shirt and green shorts
@Sara Khan: 7 out of 12 I guess.
Proud of what? finishing 7th out 8. the entire team including the management should be fired.
Thanks for entertaining us Green Shirts!! Better luck for the next time!!
Well at least Pakistan finished above Indian hockey team. Thats a gold medal in itself
YAY. Love the green shirts.
