Road accident: Three killed, 30 injured as van overturns

Three passengers were killed and 30 others wounded when a bus turned overturned on Khanpur Road

HARIPUR: Three passengers were killed and 30 others wounded when a bus turned overturned on Khanpur Road here on Wednesday. According to police and eyewitnesses, a passenger bus (RIJ 5767) was carrying over 42 employees of different industrial units of Taxila from Haripur, when near Khanpur police station, the driver lost control of the steering owing to some mechanical fault and the bus skidded off the road and overturned after crashing against roadside trees. The wounded and deceased were taken to Khanpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, from where the wounded were referred to Heavy Industries Taxila Hospital and Civil Hospital Taxila. About 10 of the wounded were stated to be in critical condition. The deceased were identified as Saeed Baig, Mumtaz and Muhammad Afkar.
