ISLAMABAD:

As Ramazan enters its final days, city traffic police have planned to deploy more officials to manage the traffic flow at shopping centres. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Moeen Masood said 100 police officials will help their colleagues streamline traffic as shoppers crowd markets close to Eid.

He said this while chairing a meeting to finalise a traffic plan for shopping centres as well as markets in the last 10 days of Ramazan.

The meeting was attended by deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) Liaquat Ali, Nighat Mujtaba, Arshad Mehmood and inspectors serving in Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP). The SSP said all zonal DSPs will brief their subordinates on how to facilitate people.

The SSP advised police officials to brief road users about traffic laws while taking strict action against violators.

“Misbehaviour on the part of a police official with citizens will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the zone in-charge in case of any complaint,” said the SSP. The SSP appealed to people to cooperate with traffic policemen as they will be serving at busy places for the convenience of the public.
