KARACHI:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been in touch with the Pakistan Muslim League- Functional (PML-F) in a bid to woo the latter to form an alliance for the next general elections, party officials told The Express Tribune.

The Sindh PML-N president, Ghous Ali Shah, admitted that they had spoken to Pir Pagara of PML-F at a recent Iftar party.

“The PML-N has formed an electoral alliance with Jalal Mahmood Shah’s Sindh United Party,” said Shah.

It has also been contacting influential political groups, such as the Mahars and Shirazis.

“We are in touch with various political parties and we will form a grand alliance before the start of the elections.” Shah added that in the next elections, coalition partners will compete against each another.

Shah lashed out at the present government and said that its days were numbered. He added that the people of the country were turning to Nawaz Sharif for help.

“The present government has failed to provide any relief to the people and it seems certain that that our party will sweep the next elections.”

A former senior leader of the PML-N, Ehsan Pasha, who recently passed away in the US, would be laid to rest in Karachi on Thursday.

His funeral would be held at Bilal Masjid in Phase 7, DHA. Pasha was suffering from blood cancer and was in the US for treatment.
