9-year-old girl sexually assaulted in K-P
18-year-old accused assaulted the girl in his bathroom, managed to escape.
LAKKI MARWAT:
A nine-year-old Asma* was sexually assaulted in Nawar Khel village on Tuesday.
SHO Asad Ali at Lakki police station told The Express Tribune that the victim was assaulted by 18-year-old Shaukat in his house.
He said that Asma was going to her home when Shaukat forced her towards his own abode.
The victim’s mother said her daughter came home in blood stained clothes and was constantly bleeding. “Her shoes were also stained with blood,” the mother cried, adding that her daughter told her that Shaukat had assaulted her in his bathroom.
“I gave my child a bath and changed her clothes but she was still bleeding profusely,” the mother said, adding she had little intention to tell her husband or her sons about the incident. But as Asma was bleeding continuously, she informed her husband who took her to the City Hospital Lakki Marwat.
The doctor at the hospital said that the victim had been admitted before describing her condition as bad. “She was bleeding severely, we rushed her to the operation theatre,” the doctor said, adding that the medical care given helped stop her bleeding.
The police, after receiving complaint, raided the house of the accused and arrested Shaukat’s father and brother. They also took his pick-up van into custody and sealed all routes of escape.
A police official and the victim’s parents told The Express Tribune that as soon as the family had filed an FIR against Shaukat, local political leaders pressurised them to withdraw charges against him. Shaukat is said to belong to an influential family of the area.
Dismissing the pressure, SHO Lakki Marwat claimed that they would arrest the culprit soon, who escaped after the incident.
